not having a good semester english-wise

yeah, so i was a dumbass and forgot to email my draft to kayvan to have him comment on it (sorry again kayvan). it seams that lately i have really been dropping the ball when it comes to english. i am an engineering major so all of my major engineering-related classes have me overwhelmed and it seems like english is taking the back-burner, which is not ok. i need to pull my head out of my ass and start focusing on this class before i fail it and have to take another 2 semesters worth of english.

Essay Responses Part Dos

I agree with what Encountering the Essay said about how the typical 5-paragraph essay really is not an essay, but more just a good way to gt a point across. To me an essay is more like a reflective or emotive piece of writing that may or may not even try to make a point. Usually they do need a point though, or they are considedred a narrative. I agree with the writer of Encountering the Essay on about everything he says. I liked what the author of Essayists on the Essay said in one of the first few paragraphs that he thought the ideal essa was one where he felt like he was comuning with the writer of the essay. i know that I personally always enjoy an essay exponentially more (sorry, im an engineer) if i feel like the writer is talking to me. It makes the essay much more personal and I actually feel like reading it.

essay responses

I think that these three essays were very interesting. i particualry like the test pilot and Ali in Havana. I liked how the author of The Test Pilot campared the air shows of the pilot to different artists. He constantly talked of how the shows were works of art. I also liked how he showed how this art was difernet from normal art in that the artist can never see his own work, even though it is considered by many a masterpiece. For some odd reason I found that interesting. I liked the quirkiness of Ali in Havana. i liked all of the odd little things that the narrartor describes Ali doing while in the presence of a political giant. Silent Dancing, or at least i think it was Silent Dancing (I had no page numbers to go off of) i found differnent from the other two essays. the other two recounted an event or series of events, while Silent Dancing was more of a commentary on a piece of literature applied to an event in the authors past.
